Title
Brandy's Sunflowers - still life on windowsill
Artist
Talya Johnson
Medium
Painting - Oil Pastel On Canvas Board
Description
I painted this still life on a whim one Sunday afternoon. At the time, I did not paint on Sundays because I felt it wouldn't be in keeping with the Sabbath. I justified my "Sabbath breaking" by promising myself that the original would be used as a gift and not for sale.
In keeping with my promise, I gifted the painting to a dear friend. Sunflowers are for friendship. Sunflowers are for happiness. And Sunflowers are for God.
I have since decided that God wants me to paint whatever day it may be. It has become my form of worship and expression of gratitude. What better way to honor Creation than multiplying it and sharing it?!
Bring this happy bouquet into your home, so you too can remember the sunshine in your soul. ~Tali

What a lovely painting, Talya! The colors and flowers seem to burst with life and energy. I like your description. I agree that painting is good to do whenever. I think of it as a form of prayer at times. f/v

A beautiful whim, I'm glad to hear you will follow them, as I think you should. Love the energy and colors as well as the areas that you've painted 'out of focus'. f/v
