Description
The Gorge White House is a historic home and century-old farm that sports lovely orchards and fields of colorful flowers. Situated in the heart of the Hood River Valley, The Gorge White House has been a landmark on the Mount Hood Scenic Byway for over 100 years. It is also the traditional starting point for the Annual Pacific Northwest Plein air event.
I never tire of standing in the ever-changing flower fields of this beautiful family-owned farm. Bees hum happily darting from blossom to blossom with the scent of fruit trees or lavender in bloom. The morning I painted this started misty and atmospheric. The warmth of the September sun slowly burned through the mist illuminating and intensifying the colors of the dahlias. The more colors I brushed on to my board, the in the more colorful the scene became. Chasing bright saturated color in buttery oil paint provided moments of sheer focus and happiness.
Bring the joy and energy of Dahlia Row into your life today. The painting enlarges beautifully into fine art prints much larger than the original size. ~Tali

Not enough to have this view ones - revisiting - the bright colors against the darker background - and the flowers are shining. It is not only beautiful, it is inspiring - I have to sit here for a while and enjoy it! LF

A lovely artwork! I love the free and confident technique, the way the colours of the flowers 'pop' and the sense of space and distance. l/f/tw

Oh thank you Fiona!! Getting those flower to pop was was a real exercise in restraint, since pretty much everything was competing for attention!

What a beautiful and serene field of flowers you have painted here, Talya! That must have been an inspirational day at the historical Gorge White House! You have inspired me to want to stand out in the field, too, someday and behold such beauty! Congratulations on a well deserved sale! Love it! Fave! L/F/FB/P!

Thank you Kimberly! I really appreciate you comment. :) Yes, I hope you go out. Plein air painting is the most difficult and rewarding form of painting I've experienced.
