Description
This painting was truly a labor of love! The subject is not one I have had much experience in painting en plein air, but I couldn't resist the challenge of the beautiful scene before me!
The 1880's Victorian Farmhouse and country gardens that comprise the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens, is a national historic site in Woodland, Washington. Gardens and historic buildings have been lovingly maintained by the Hulda Klager Lilac Society, a nonprofit volunteer organization. It was my privilege to visit the garden twice in order to complete this painting from life. Visitors jostled back and forth, often peeking over my shoulder and asking questions. For two gorgeous days I was able to immerse myself in the garden under the shade of a of a stunning ancient Elder.
This painting will bring the sunlit garden into any room in home or office! Perfect for any traditional, or victorian decor, or perhaps a country bed and breakfast.
